Commune
Royal Oak is a city filled with many different types of bars. Walking down main street with crowds of people dressed up and ready to drink. Commune is one of the bars you want to stop in. It is located on 419 S. Main Street Royal Oak, MI. It is set up in the basement of a restaurant, I know I know......pretty classy. This bar is jam packed majority of the time, just like a lot of the bars in the downtown area. It is pretty small but has definite potential. The line is never a long wait. If there is a wait it is only five or ten minutes and you do not have to pay to get in. As you walk through the doors you have to walk down a flight of stairs into the crowded bar. The lighting is dim but it gives it that rustic basement like atmosphere. The dance floor is small but somehow fits a ton of people on it. If you don't like to dance there are booths to sit in along the sides. There are also tall tables with no chairs that people stand around and talk. They always have a DJ that you are able to request songs at. He/she mainly plays rap or popular new music but I'm sure if you asked he/she might play something else, depending on what type of song it is. The music is very loud in there so if you're going out to sit and talk I suggest you don't go to Commune. However, it is a fun bar to people watch. I think everyone believes they can not be seen because of the lighting or they just don't give a shit when their drunk.
Although I do enjoy this bar there are some down falls. When it is crowded it is extremely hard to get a drink, I defiantly suggest pre-gaming before you go. There are smaller bars on the side but they do not have a full bar selection. Not only is it sometimes so crowded to get a drink they also do not have many bartenders to make drinks. You really have to push your way through to get their attention. With the crowds of people in this atmosphere it does tend to get hot, make sure you wear light clothing in the summer. There is no dress code for this particular bar. Although, a lot of the other bars in Royal Oak do have a dress code. Keep this in mind in case you want to leave. This is the type of bar you can go to and get blackout and not be judged because majority of the people there are blackout as well. This is a place where you are able to meet a ton of people you might not remember, so have fun and get a safe ride home.
-Keep it classy-
